About this guide: This is a buying and preparation guide based on WannaFlix’s public information checked on 7 September 2026. We have not independently tested China connectivity, speeds, streaming access, support, or refunds. We may earn a commission if you purchase through links in this article.
WannaFlix is a VPN/proxy subscription that you use with a compatible client on your device. You’ll need an existing internet connection, the client, and your subscription configuration before you can connect.
Start with the device table below. Find out whether you can install the listed client and whether it costs extra, then review the billing and refund terms before paying. If you still need mobile data after landing, choose that separately using our connection guide.
In this guide
- Is WannaFlix a fit for your trip?
- How it differs from an eSIM
- Watching Netflix, HBO, and other streaming services

Is WannaFlix a fit for your trip?
WannaFlix may be worth considering when:
- You expect to use a laptop as well as a phone, including on accommodation Wi-Fi.
- You are willing to install a compatible client and add your subscription configuration.
- You can set aside time before departure to check the instructions and ask support about anything unclear.
Take a closer look before buying if you expect one account login in a single branded app to complete the whole setup. WannaFlix lists third-party clients, so the experience depends on your device and chosen application.
If you need employer-approved access to work systems, ask your IT team which service and setup they authorize. A personal subscription should not be assumed to meet those requirements.
How it differs from an eSIM
Think about two separate decisions: how your device gets online, and what service runs over that connection.
A travel eSIM, physical SIM, or roaming plan supplies a mobile connection. WannaFlix runs over an existing connection; it does not supply a mobile data allowance or a Chinese phone number.
For a phone-only trip, check the exact roaming or eSIM plan against your needs before adding another subscription. For a laptop, check hotspot support and the Wi-Fi you will use. Do not assume all travel data plans provide the same access or sharing rules.
Our internet connection planning guide covers phone-only trips, laptop hotspots, and hotel Wi-Fi.
Watching Netflix, HBO, and other streaming services
Keeping up with your shows is another reason to consider WannaFlix. Its September 2026 Netflix FAQ lists 13 regions, including the US, UK, Japan, South Korea, Hong Kong, and Taiwan. Its general FAQ also names Disney+, HBO, Hulu, Amazon Prime, and BBC iPlayer. These are provider claims, not our playback test results; the HBO label does not establish compatibility with every current HBO Max app or account region.
Choose by the platform, library, and device you actually use. A server in a country does not by itself confirm access to that country’s streaming catalog. Read our WannaFlix streaming guide: Netflix regions, HBO, and Disney+ for the platform table, regional coverage, and a playback checklist. You will still need the streaming service’s own eligible account or subscription.

What to prepare before buying
Write down your device models and operating-system versions. Then check the client for each one. At the time of our source check, WannaFlix’s features page recommended:
| Device | Client listed by WannaFlix |
|---|---|
| Windows | Clash Verge |
| Mac | FlClash |
| iPhone / iPad | Shadowrocket |
| Android | Clash Meta for Android |
The same page advertises five simultaneous connections. Confirm the allowance for the plan you select, particularly if you are preparing several devices for a family.
Check the client’s availability, OS requirements, and any separate app-store price before subscribing. Do not assume the WannaFlix payment includes the client purchase.
Use a guide that matches your client: the official setup index still names some older clients than the features page. If the instructions do not match your application, ask WannaFlix support for the current guide. Do not mix steps from different clients.

Check the amount payable today, subscription length, and renewal terms on the current order screen. A monthly equivalent for a longer plan is not the same as paying month by month. Match the commitment to your actual trip and expected future use.
Use the total on the selected checkout plan for your budget. The older purchase page’s prices have not been verified against that checkout.
The WannaFlix terms describe a 30-day initial-purchase refund window, with conditions:
- A refund requires a support ticket; canceling the subscription alone is not a refund request.
- Changes such as extending the billing term or adding licenses can waive eligibility.
- Visa/Mastercard refunds may use account credit or another available channel if the original gateway cannot process them.
- Alipay refunds have a specified conversion method and a 4% deduction; currency-conversion fees are excluded from the stated full-refund arrangements.
The older purchase-page FAQ also says taking its advertised trial removes eligibility for the 30-day guarantee. Before taking a trial, ask support whether it affects refund eligibility for the plan you intend to purchase.
Before payment, make sure you understand the total cost, renewal arrangement, client cost, and refund route for your chosen payment method.
Prepare your devices before departure
Open the official setup guides alongside your device. Use the checkpoints below to track your preparation; the provider’s guide contains the client-specific installation steps.
1. Choose your plan and save the order details
Review the billing period and terms before completing the purchase. Save your receipt, account details, and the provider’s support route where you can find them later.
2. Use the instructions for your exact device
Match the device, client name, and operating-system requirements in the guide to your own setup. Install from the app store or official developer download linked by the provider. If the guide names a different client, request the matching instructions before importing your subscription.
3. Add the subscription configuration
Follow the provider’s account and client instructions to obtain and import the appropriate subscription information. Keep subscription URLs and activation details private, including in screenshots sent to public forums.
4. Check the services you actually need
Try the websites or apps relevant to your trip on each prepared device. Record the client version and any errors if you need support. A successful test before departure checks your setup, but does not prove performance on a different network after arrival.
5. Save instructions for arrival
Keep an offline copy of the setup instructions, your hotel address, and provider support information. Add these to your before-you-fly checklist.
Frequently asked questions
Does WannaFlix work in China?
We have not tested it on a China network, so we cannot confirm that it will work for your trip. If a particular app is essential, ask WannaFlix support about that app, your destination, and your device before buying. Device compatibility alone does not establish connection reliability.
Do I need both an eSIM and WannaFlix?
Not automatically. They serve different purposes. Decide how you will get an internet connection first, then whether you need an additional service over it. Your phone’s mobile connection and your laptop’s hotel Wi-Fi are separate scenarios to consider.
Can I prepare it before traveling?
You can review client requirements, create your connection plan, and follow the provider’s setup instructions before departure. Check when the subscription starts so that preparation time does not unexpectedly use up the period you intended for travel.
Is the app included in the subscription price?
Check the specific client listing. A subscription to the service and a purchase of a third-party application are separate items; verify both before paying.
Is China Online Ready the provider?
No. We are an independent guide and an affiliate. Your subscription, billing, connection service, and refund requests are handled by WannaFlix. See our affiliate disclosure.
